Quick checks

NTP calibration does not complete

  1. Confirm the device has a working internet connection.
  2. Try another Wi-Fi or cellular network; some networks block UDP port 123 even when websites work.
  3. In single-server mode, restore time.apple.com or enter another authorized NTP hostname without https://, a port, or a path.
  4. In multi-server mode, enable at least three independent hosts and review any invalid or inconsistent responses.

Tick Sync intentionally does not silently treat a malformed or inconsistent response as correct time.

A radio-controlled watch does not receive the signal

  1. Select a station/format the watch model actually supports.
  2. Remove the phone case if practical and place the watch near the speaker.
  3. Raise the volume and keep the app in the foreground for the first test.
  4. Try a quiet environment and a different device-to-watch position.

The app generates audible subharmonic audio and relies on the physical output path to couple with the watch. It is not a normal RF transmitter, and compatibility cannot be guaranteed.

A compatible Bluetooth watch will not pair or accept time

  1. Confirm that the watch and firmware are compatible. Bluetooth support is limited to compatible models and may vary by firmware.
  2. Disconnect or remove the watch from another companion app, then follow the watch manual to enter phone-pairing mode.
  3. Keep Tick Sync open during the first setup.
  4. If you remove the watch from Tick Sync, also remove the phone association on the watch when required by its manual.

Background synchronization did not run

iOS decides when background work and Bluetooth restoration can run. Keep Background App Refresh and Bluetooth permission enabled. A user force-quit prevents normal background relaunch until Tick Sync is opened again. Background support is best-effort, not a schedule guarantee.

Location preselection and ipwho.is

This Advanced Feature is off by default. When enabled, the phone’s coordinate is used only on-device, while resolved non-Anycast NTP server IP addresses are sent to ipwho.is. Turn the toggle off to stop these lookups. See the Privacy Policy for the exact data flow.

Purchase or restore is not working

  1. Confirm you are signed into the App Store and online.
  2. Use Restore Purchases on the Advanced Features page.
  3. Check iOS Settings → Apple Account → Subscriptions for status and cancellation.
  4. For billing or refund requests, use Apple’s Report a Problem service.

Deleting the app does not cancel an active subscription.

How do I delete app data?

Turn off location preselection, remove the paired watch, and change or restore server settings as needed. Deleting Tick Sync removes its local app container from the device, subject to copies that may remain in device backups managed by you and Apple. Tick Sync has no developer-operated account or cloud database to delete.
